Give before you take in marketing and design

by thefullnoise

In most cases, a logo should be large enough to be seen but not overshadow the content, or the usability of the item it is adorning. It should be a badge of honor that is tastefully placed with a sense of balance and proportion. In almost all cases, it is better for a logo to whisper than to scream at your audience.

This quote is from a post by Id Apostle about how a logo that is too big can actually hurt your brand.

From marketing view point as well as design, it makes sense to highlight content, in particular benefits over a company logo.

Give visitors something cool, and then tell them who gave it to them.
